Dear Friend,
I welcome you to St Peter’s Church! We are a vibrant Anglican church in the Diocese of Singapore.
In 2026, we celebrate our 70th Anniversary, and the theme is “From a Firm Foundation to a Flourishing Future”. This reminds us that our spiritual growth and fruitfulness are rooted in the firm foundation of Jesus Christ.
Colossians 2:6–7
6 And now, just as you accepted Christ Jesus as your Lord, you must continue to follow him. 7 Let your roots grow down into him, and let your lives be built on him. Then your faith will grow strong in the truth you were taught, and you will overflow with thankfulness.
1. Christ, Our Foundation
From the inception of St Peter’s Church, Jesus Christ has been its cornerstone. He remains our firm and unshakable foundation. All that we are and all we hope to become must be built on him.
2. A Call to Persevering Discipleship
Paul exhorts us in Colossians 2:6 to “continue to follow him,” which is a call to faithful, unwavering discipleship regardless of life’s circumstances. At St Peter’s Church, we recognize that while human leaders may have limitations, our chief shepherd is Christ himself.
3. Living in Christ, Not Just Learning About Him
We are not interested in merely acquiring knowledge of Jesus Christ but allowing our entire lives to be rooted in him. As we deepen our relationship with Jesus, our lives become fertile ground for spiritual fruit, visible to those around us. True flourishing begins with heart transformation. This inward change naturally flows into our thoughts, speech, and actions, aligning our lives with the mission of Christ in the world.
4. Flourishing Together : A Partnership Rooted in Christ
As we celebrate 70 years of God’s faithfulness, we are thankful to God for the opportunity to journey with St Andrew’s City Church, which is residing in the same compound. This is not simply a collaboration; it is a testament to the unity of the body of Christ. Just as individual believers are called to grow deep roots into Christ, so too are churches called to journey together, building one another up in love and grace. Our shared foundation in Jesus enables us to co-labour for the gospel, extend our collective reach, and flourish in ways we could never have imagined. Through this journeying together, we not only grow stronger as a community but also become a more vibrant witness to the world of Christ’s transforming love.
5. Becoming a Testimony to the Nations
Our flourishing is not for ourselves alone. As we are built up in Christ, our lives become a testimony to others. This vision is beautifully echoed in Zechariah 8:20–23, where people from many nations are drawn to God through his evident presence among his people.
In those days ten men from different nations and languages of the world will clutch at the sleeve of one Jew. And they will say, ‘Please let us walk with you, for we have heard that God is with you.’
This is a powerful picture of influence that comes not from striving, but from living a life so deeply rooted in Christ that others are drawn to him through us and now, through our shared ministry with our brothers and sisters in St Andrew’s City Church. Thus, in the process, we “Become Like Christ and Proclaim Him.”
We look forward to welcoming you to our services and programs and, as the Lord leads, journeying together with this spiritual family during this exciting season of our life.
Blessings!
